ETA: Okay so I have to say that the American in me is a tiny bit amused at the idea of going on a 3 day roadtrip through Wales, which is smaller than New Jersey. BUT THAT JUST MEANS THEY HAD LOTS OF FREE TIME FOR OTHER STUFF AND I AM SURE WE CAN ALL FILL IN THE BLANKS.

I don't know if I am still in a food coma from too much Thanksgiving or just sleep deprived, but I can barely keep my eyes open right now. I am curled up on the couch in my pjs, waiting until it's late enough to go to sleep. It's 5:30 now - I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to last. Yes, this is my Friday night. What can I say? I'm a party girl.

ANYWAY. Important things:

• Posting for queenbitchfest started at the beginning of this week. The stories all feature Adam Lambert and are based on David Bowie songs. The fest was organized by the lovely and amazing yeats, and posting will continue through tomorrow with author reveals on Sunday. There are some really fantastic fics over there so go check it out!
  
• What is with Bradley and the state of Florida? First it was the Miami Dolphins, and then in the trailer for The Real Merlin and Arthur he is wearing a Florida State shirt. HEY BRADLEY, FLORIDA IS TOO HOT FOR YOUR ENGLISH BLOOD. COME TO PENNSYLVANIA INSTEAD :D
  
• There is a Dropbox app for the iPhone and it is MY NEW FAVORITE THING EVER. Seriously. Today I was driving down the road listening to music in a folder on derryere's computer. Or a folder that is... somewhere else. IDK. ALL I KNOW IS THAT I LOVE MODERN TECHNOLOGY.

So I am sure that by now everyone has seen the trailer for Colin and Bradley's roadtrip of awesome. I'm sure you also heard Colin talk about how they did some odd things in the dark.

Today I am thankful for a weekend full of so much fandom squee that I nearly expired, my very awesome flist, and the really delicious coffee I am drinking right this very moment. ALSO SHORT WORK WEEKS AND LONG WEEKENDS :D

ETA: OMG YOU GUYS. From this article, a recap of Adam's performance for anyone who missed it: [Adam] proceeded to make out with his (male) keyboard player, ride two of his (male) dancers like dogs on a leash, and grab another (male) with a face-to-the-balls maneuver.

I am seriously cackling gleefully at the phrase face-to-the-balls maneuver. I desperately want to go into the copy room where everyone is hanging out drinking coffee and be like, SO WHO SAW ADAM'S FACE-TO-THE-BALLS MANEUVER LAST NIGHT?

OH MY DEAR SWEET BABY JESUS. I have been trying to write this entry up for hours, but I keep getting distracted by the awesome that is Merlin fandom today. HOLY SHIT.

As if that wasn't enough for one day, next came the report that there is going to be a TV special with Bradley and Colin traveling around Wales to learn more about Arthurian legend. WHICH BASICALLY AMOUNTS TO: HOLY FUCK. BRADLEY AND COLIN GO ON A ROADTRIP.

There needs to be fic RIGHT THE FUCK NOW. The possibilities are endless. We know that the boys know about crazy fangirls, so maybe they're driving along, laughing about what the internet is going to think about this, and then sort of awkwardly looking away. Perhaps this leads to stolen glances and tense moments all throughout the trip until the very last night when they give in to what they've both been thinking the whole time THEREBY WRITING THEIR OWN FANFIC.

Or maybe they bring along two video cameras - one to film the television footage, and one to film OTHER THINGS. OR MAYBE THEY JUST FUCK LIKE BUNNIES EVERY SPARE MOMENT THEY HAVE. IDEC, THERE JUST NEEDS TO BE ROADTRIP FIC.

ALSO. I think this brings up an important point. Some reports from the Forbidden Planet signing said that Bradley made a comment there about having just been in a car for 3 days straight or something, which I am going to assume was this roadtrip. That signing was when the first horrifying whiskers appeared. Do you know what this means? SOMETHING ON THAT TRIP CONTRIBUTED TO THE FACIAL HAIR. I mean, I suppose we will see what state it was in when we see the show, but until that time, I am choosing to believe that there was some bet and/or arrangement between the two of them. PROBABLY SOMETHING INVOLVING SEX.

BUT THERE WAS MORE AFTER THAT. THEN WE GOT PICTURES FROM THE BAFTA EVENT, AND THEN MORE PICTURES, INCLUDING THIS ONE IN WHICH I SWEAR IT LOOKS LIKE THEY'RE TOUCHING AND THIS ONE WHICH SERIOUSLY NEARLY DID ME IN. Also, it looks as though Bradley has upgraded(??) from Abercrombie to Diesel, and Colin is still unimpressed.

So, um yeah. IT WAS A GOOD DAY. How is everyone doing? ARE YOU ALL STILL BREATHING? WHO IS WRITING BJ/CM FIC RIGHT THIS VERY MOMENT? Answer needs to be ALL OF YOU.

Oh, flist. We need to talk yet again about Bradley's facial hair.

I tried a mini-picspam when the first scraggly hairs appeared. At the time, I seemed to be in the minority since much of my flist was in favor of the approximately 18 chin hairs growing all over his pretty face. Then the next set of pics came out showing that Bradley was apparently going for an actual beard, and the tide turned, with most people begging him to shave it off. I was still weeping at the travesty of it all, but at least I knew I was not alone.

But then something happened.

Yesterday a new interview of Bradley came out. On the surface it's almost too good to be true - ten minutes of Bradley being his ridiculously delightful self, telling stories about wee Bradley at the theater and impersonating David Bowie in Labyrinth, but the truth is that the video is a tragedy in what could have been. Instead of ten minutes of Bradley's perfect face, we have ten minutes of Bradley's perfect face COVERED UP WITH RANDOM PATCHES OF HAIR.

Much to my horror, posts started appearing on my flist. People who had once been begging him to shave it off were suddenly talking about how they were starting to actually like the scraggle. From this I can only conclude one thing: THE EVIL POWERS OF THE CHIN HAIRS HAVE BEEN UNLEASHED IN FULL FORCE.

I cannot stand by any longer and watch my friends fall one by one for fuck me eyes and a tight white t-shirt. HOW EASILY YOU ALL FORGET HOW PRETTY HE WAS WITHOUT IT. I am here to remind you, and I'm not holding anything back.

Star Trek looks SO MUCH BETTER on my TV than it did on my laptop. I mean, I knew it would but still. SO SHINY OMG. I am planning a (rather ridiculous, as leupagus can attest) Kirk/Spock fic, but I cannot write even a word of it until other deadlines WHICH WE ARE NOT DISCUSSING AT PRESENT are hit. For now, I will only allow myself to watch the DVD in all of its perfect HD quality and dream about the day when deadlines are behind me and I never sign up for another challenge or fest again and I can write about PRETTY GAY BOYS IN SPACE to my heart's content.

I'm sad I waited so long to get into the ST fandom since it seems to have died way down, but maybe the DVD will revive everyone? C'MON ST PEOPLE. LEARN TO DEAL WITH A V LONG HIATUS BY BEING EVEN MORE AWESOME. I DEMAND IT.

To cover all of my fandoms I feel like I should say something about Merlin here. UM. WELL. I talk about Merlin in pretty much every other entry, so I suppose I skip it just this once, yes? I STILL LOVE MERLIN AND ARTHUR MORE THAN ALMOST ANYTHING ELSE SO FEAR NOT. OH WAIT. I do have an upcoming picspam that I suspect many of you will enjoy quite a bit. Here is a hint: IT STARS THE LOVELIEST OF ALL PRINCES AND HIS EQUALLY LOVELY MANSERVANT :D

Here is the masterlist for the Merlin Rimming Meme. I've been meaning to do this for awhile and I just kept forgetting. Maybe it was for the best that it took me so long to get this up since there have been a few things trickling in here and there that I am now able to include such as Gwen/Morgana art that was just posted today!

All in all, I was pleased to see a variety of pairings. There was plenty of slash which was no surprise, but also femslash, het, and even OT4! The only hole (I'm not even gonna make a joke here because it's too easy) I saw was that in the het pairings, the girls were the givers and not the receivers. In fact, the only action any girls got at all was in femslash art. SOMEONE WRITE GIRL RIMMING STAT.

In other news, I got a flu shot yesterday. I have never had a flu shot in my life, not even when I worked for several years in an emergency room and came in close contact with people who had the flu. But I was at the doctor for something unrelated and he said, "while you're here, do you want a flu shot? WE ONLY HAVE SIX LEFT SO IT MIGHT BE YOUR LAST CHANCE." IDK I guess I just panicked or something and said yes. Anyway, the point of all this is that today I can hardly move my arm at all and it's tingling from my shoulder to my wrist. I KNEW THERE WAS A REASON I DON'T GET FLU SHOTS.

Today is a day to remember.



But today also means something else. Two years ago, a little girl named Madeline was born. Her parents are friends of friends – those people you know in the back of your head but don’t think of often because they’re so far removed from your daily life.

Today they celebrate Madeline’s second birthday without their daughter.

There are so many people to remember today. So many faces in a parade, so many names on a wall, so many crosses in a cemetery, so many poppies in a field – the sum so staggering it’s easier to contemplate as a concept rather than a number. But we try to remember anyway, even if it doesn’t make sense in the end. We can do that much.

So today I will find room in my head and my heart to remember just one more.

In honor of a less than spectacular day, and in honor of 40 years, I'm sharing my number one favorite Sesame Street clip of all time. I don't know if it's the song or the association with my childhood, but this never fails to make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

EEEEEEEE! YOU GUYS. YOU GUYS. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW EXCITED I AM FOR THIS?? For those of you who don't know, MiniMerlin was an informal con held in March that was SERIOUSLY AWESOME. REALLY, IT WAS. I'm trying to think of a classy way to recap it, but all I can come up with is FANGIRL MAKEOUT PILES and PORN READINGS COMPLETE WITH SOUND EFFECTS and MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF VODKA. I promise other stuff did happen :D (You can read my recap here)

Moving along! There's a newish coffee shop/cafe in my neighborhood that I've been meaning to try, and I finally went today. It was lovely but a bit overpriced. There's one I like better that's not quite in my neighborhood that I think I'll stick to. Still, it was fun and I had an awesome sandwich consisting of herbed cheese bread, avocado, roasted peppers, jicma, cheddar cheese, and chipotle lime mayo. SO TASTY.

Also! I saw a boy there who I swear was Drake Bell. Not like someone who looked like him, but ACTUALLY DRAKE BELL. I've never actually seen Drake and Josh, but I recognized him from fandom stuff I've seen around. Anyway, I came home and started poking around looking at pictures to see if I was remembering his face correctly and it might have actually been him, and ended up reading Drake and Josh fic for like two hours. WHAT IS MY LIFE IDEK.

Then later I went to the grocery store and discovered it was jam packed full of people. At first I was like WTF IS GOING ON HERE but I soon discovered they were having a special Thanksgiving food sample party to encourage people to order turkeys and stuff. The store was full of sample stations, and they had an entire turkey dinner with all the trimmings as well as appetizers and dessert. FREE DINNER. SCORE.

It might be tomorrow in Dutchland but it is still today here, so I can say Happy Birthday derryere! \o/

Okay, so I have been planning to do a general Merlin picspam for the past couple weeks appreciating the prettiness of everyone involved since anything I want to say about the show someone else as already said, but then something happened and my plans changed. What was it, you ask? As I am sure everyone knows by now, Bradley has acquired some facial hair. PLEASE NOTE THAT I DID NOT SAY BRADLEY GREW A BEARD, BECAUSE I AM AFRAID THAT HE DID NOT.

OKAY. So first I should say that I am not anti-facial hair as a rule, but this thing that Bradley has going on? NOT GOOD. NOT GOOD AT ALL. I realize that people seem to be very happy about it as evidenced by the reactions I am seeing, and of course I respect any an all opinions, but my opinion is a an unequivocal FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY PLEASE SHAVE IT OFF RIGHT NOW BRADLEY.

This week's episode is a very good example in why Bradley should make a date with a razor. Some of you may know it as Beauty and the Beast, Part 2, but I like to think of it as Prince Arthur: A Study in How to Look Hot While Brooding.

I have a very unhealthy addiction to CNN. I am not always convinced it's the best place to get the news, but I keep going back for more. While I am very interested in all the things going on in the world, at the end of the day I am nothing if not terribly shallow and, well, it helps that there is a lot of eye candy around. In other news, Happy Halloween! Ten years ago today I met The Boy for the very first time. We didn't start dating then, mostly because I thought he was a giant pain in the ass, but still. TEN YEARS OHMYGOD.

So my plans for the evening fell through, and since this week was kind of stressful, I did what anyone in my position would do: cracked open a bottle of wine and the Halloween candy. I'm now 2 glasses in with a sugar buzz and I am dying to know something. HOW DO YOU EAT YOUR SKITTLES? Me, I eat them by color, starting with my least favorite and going to the ones I like best. That means I eat all the green ones first, then orange, then yellow, then red, then purple. If the red ones were cherry, they would undoubtedly be my favorite but they are not. THEY ARE STRAWBERRY. LAME. My number one favorite Halloween candy of all time is Reese's peanut butter cups WHICH ARE EVEN BETTER IF YOU ADD A NICE LAYER OF PEANUT BUTTER TO THE TOP.

ALSO: Since I am sitting here with nothing to do but get drunk and hopped up on candy, gimme a prompt and maybe I will write something - think teeny tiny ficlet sized prompts, because I don't have the attention span to sustain much tonight. I'll take any pairing I've written in the past. Likelihood of completion is perfectly negatively correlated with amounts of alcohol and sugar consumed.
